marcy & eric | wed

Every wedding is constructed by a series of chosen moments; some moments are anticipated and others quiet and sudden.  The thread I saw on this day was one of loving embrace.  As the father imparts love to his daughter, or the daughter imparting relationship to the newest generation.

Where there is one led to embrace, them them embrace and where there is one led to tears, let them fall.  I was blessed and honored to have documented Marcy & Eric's wedding.

Somehow this song by Tony Bennett seems to slightly echo the feelings I have for this splendid place.  But amidst the hilly streets and cluttered cable skies, finding such beautiful couples like Charlie and Krista make the experience that much better.

"I Left My Heart In San Francisco"

The loveliness of Paris seems somehow sadly gray
The glory that was Rome is of another day
I've been terribly alone and forgotten in Manhattan
I'm going home to my city by the Bay

I left my heart in San Francisco
High on a hill, it calls to me
To be where little cable cars climb halfway to the stars
The morning fog may chill the air, I don't care

My love waits there in San Francisco
Above the blue and windy sea
When I come home to you, San Francisco
Your golden sun will shine for me

DANA POINT

Emotions that run just under their skin, Brooke and Ryan live vivaciously and it infects everyone around them.  None are left without a smile for long, especially if Ryan has anything to say about it.  They care deeply about those in their lives and even at a day such as this when the spotlight has turned right on them, they continue to serve their friends, and guests and anyone in need of a good brightening of the day.  Needless-to-say their wedding was a pleasure to document.  Peace and blessings to you both as you spread joy and smiles together.

I was equally blessed to document this weeding alongside my wonderful friend, Tim Twinem, the genius cinematographer and owner of Velare Imaginarium.  I've included his film at the bottom of this post.

michael and kristina

it's always a treat to photograph an artists wedding.  Their sense of style and taste almost creates something of a camaraderie, all of which (style, taste and artists) were not in short supply.  One of their boldest moves was securing a venue to host their reception and where better than the newly erected, Clyfford Still Museum downtown.  To enhance the uniqueness of it all, this was the very first wedding held at the CSM.  We wandered the hallways and corridors throughout the upper rooms looking for light and shape and found to our delight all of it in abundance.  I started to see Michael and Kristina in many ways like the paintings hanging on the walls surrounding us.  Their sense of love for one another, the ambition they share; it's all too big to hang on ordinary walls; you need gigantic walls with more than enough space to adequately express the substance they share. I can't thank my friend and fellow photographer, Preston Utley, enough for sharing his time & talents with me on this day.  You're an incredible artist!
